Progress of transplanted Mint

Garlic

Planted a few cloves of garlic around the lettuce pot as aphids repellant.

How to harvest Pok Choy

Baby Pok Choy leaves are best suited to go with soup noodle.
There is no need to wait for the vegetable to grow bigger, you can cut them anytime you want to eat them.

Aphids Problem

I discovered a huge colony of aphids on chilli pot, the whole plant was covered by hundreds of thousands of aphids.

I did a couple of things in the following order to get things under control.

1. Wide sticky tapes.

Wrapped a piece of sticky tapes around my fingers and ran my hand over the plant. After a few rounds, I got rid of all the crawling aphids on the top of the leaves, then swapped new sticky tapes and did the back of the leaves.

2. Honey + Water

For the roots and hard to reach places on the plant, I sprayed 'honey water' all over it. Some people use 'dish washing liquid + water' but I think 'honey + water' is a safer option.

3. Ground Coffee Powder

I then sprinkled used ground coffee around the plant. I heard coffee powder is effective aphids repellants.

4. Banana skin.

I buried some banana skin in the soil.

5. Post implementation review.

Day 2, I found that the aphids colony is nearly wiped out. I could still find a few aphids here and there, so on with the 'sticky tapes' trick again.

- 'Instant Coffee + Water' or 'Milk + Water'

Once I got rid of visibly crawling aphids, I sprayed the plant with a mixture of 'instant coffee + water'.

Day 3, I am pleased to say that my aphids problem is gone.

As a prevention steps, I have planted garlic around the lettuce and pok-choy. Garlic odour also serves as aphids repellant.

Healthy Lettuce

Despite Aphids attack, this pot of oldest lettuce is growing very well.

Recycling used teabags

Cut out used teabag and collect the tea powder then use them as nutrient to your plant. It's a great way to recycle, my plants are loving it.

Transplanting Mint

I learn that it's possible to grow mint by simply cutting some roots off an old pot and transplanting them into new pot.

DIY greenhouse on Cos Lettuce

It's best to cover up young seedlings after transferring to pot. Use transparent plastic container as DIY greenhouse can be very economic.

Denser mint pot

Mint pot has grown denser now. I find that mint is really water hungry and wildly aggressive plant. Watering down to the root is necessary every 2 days.

Germinating lots of Chilli seeds inside milk bottles

This lot was started about a week ago around 5-Marh-2013. Let's see how long it'll take for the seedlings to be sighted.

Growing Potatoes. Success!

After one failed attempt of growing potatoes, round 2 is finally showing some progress.

Dying Blueberry

The Blueberry pot is a very sad state now. I haven't dug up the root to see if it is a root rot problem. I just don't know what is happening to it. I am going to leave, water it from time to time and see what'll happen.

Lettuce progress. This pot has grown quite well. However, the garlic spray hasn't done much repelling aphids. I can still find aphids on the lettuce thankfully not in millions. I am not spraying anything on the lettuce, I have settled to squashing the green bugs whenever I spot them munching on this leafy green.

Mint Pot

This mint pot was stripped nearly bare and the leaves consumed 2 weeks ago. Now, 2 weeks later the pot is covered with new leaves. Amazing.
