Seed Germination Tips

I find seed germination is easier when done using a bit of hydroponic perlite than the wet tissue method. Less messy. Pre-mix the water with soluble plant food powder will give better results. These pok choy seedlings will be transported to pots outdoor when they are bigger.

Beautiful Cos Lettuce!

6 months old chilli seedlings

6 months old chilli seedlings...more like little trees, not bearing fruits yet.

Basil..finally

This basil has been in coma for a long time, growth just stunted for unknown reasons so I just left it in the pot. Amazingly, it is showing growth as the weather gets warmer and warmer. Wow!

Spring is here! Many baby chilli

How to get spring onion seeds

Older spring onion will flower generously.
When you see the flower, don't cut it. Wait till it has blossom a bit more, then bury some seeds in the soil and you will see new baby spring onions in a few days.

Big thick leaves...probably time to harvest. The leaves are too thick too old.

Cos lettuce progress

Lettuce is growing again in DIY self watering pot after first harvest.

My first hydroponic projects. Cos Lettuce. Aquasol plant food

I have recently ventured into a small hydroponic project. I got some perlite, a few net cups, recycled milk bottles, aluminium foil sheets and aquasol plant food to get the project started.

A few cos lettuce seedlings have been transferred to the hydroponic setup and they seem to be responding well so far.

Photos of 2 weeks old seedlings.

Spring onion producing flowers

This is interesting. I never know spring onion grows flowers. This pot is looking unhealthy. The leaves are no longer deep green.

Baby spring onion progress after moving to bigger, self watering pot

I am not sure if it is the benefit of a self-watering pot or was it just more soil in a bigger plant that attributed to the baby spring onion's excellent growth just three weeks after moving them from round food containers to the self watering pot.
